Prayer - A Powerful Weapon

Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud,
And He shall hear my voice.
Psalms 55:17

Do we pray enough? Prayer is how we communicate with the Lord and is a vital part of any Christian life. It is part of what develops a personal relationship with the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ. Sometimes we are so busy that we forget to pray. Even offering a small simple prayer, often during the day as you go about your business, is better than nothing. This could be like the following:

Father I honour You
For You are good
I need your healing and forgiveness
They need your healing and forgiveness
Thank you, In Jesus' name, Amen.

Prayer is a powerful weapon. It stirs activity in the heavenly realms. God listens and acts. We in the CCNZ office have regular prayer meetings and document what we pray about. This creates an air of expectation and faith. We can then review our prayer journal and discover our prayers did not go unheeded, but were joyfully answered in all its fullness. We always pray in the name of Jesus as it is that name that is powerful and instills fear into the enemy.

What is important in prayer is to also be thankful and offer a grateful heart for what we have been blessed with and to honour the One who gives us this life. When prayer is answered, it is important to thank Him.

I recently saw the movie War Room and I absolutely loved it so much I went a second time with my nearly 10 year old granddaughter. It encouraged me to stand up to the enemy who is always on the lookout to steal that precious joy from our lives. I highly recommend viewing this movie. It will probably make you cry, but also laugh. Priscilla Shirer is one of the main actors and plays an awesome role. She is an author and I have read one of her books. But what really struck me was the actress, Karen Abercrombie who played Miss Clara. She is an outstanding actress but also a prayer warrior in this movie. Her prayer is what I call holy righteous anger at the enemy and his cohorts. To plead with God to overpower the kingdom of darkness. They must surely quake when she prays. I can imagine they would have been quaking even with the making of this movie.

Charles Spurgeon said this about prayer.

Prayer clears the sky; "Prayer makes the darkened cloud withdraw."
Prayer is a heaven climber; "Prayer climbs the ladder Jacob saw."
Prayer makes even Satan quake; "For Satan trembles when he sees,
The weakest saint upon his knees."

And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.
Matt 11: 12

This link goes to a sermon delivered in May 1859 called "Holy Violence" by Charles Spurgeon based on the above scripture in Matthew.
It is very long but an interesting read here
