Safer Places, Safer Activities, Safer People

The NZ Mountain Safety Council is a national organisation who has been working for more than 50 years with a mandate to encourage safe participation in land-based outdoor activities. They do this through the development and promotion of safety messaging, by identifying and responding to insights provided by the ongoing collection and analysis of data, and by building partnerships with relevant organisations.

"The ability to critically analyse a situation and make an informed decision is part of heading outdoors. It’s also what makes it an adventure — in that you never quite know what you’ll find. At MSC we promote “knowing your limits," only you know the level of risk that is appropriate to the situational factors, your experience and your equipment."

Get Outdoors with Jordan and Abby

It gives us great pleasure to introduce the Get Outdoors video series. These have been developed with youth in mind, and the intention is that each video will be used by you as you teach and lead young people to plan their trips in the outdoors.
Join Abby and Jordan as they take you through a series of 29 quick-fire videos to help Kiwi youth learn the basics of planning and exploring the outdoors. Each video is between 1 and 4 minutes long, and can be used in a number of ways whether to introduce a new topic, or to be a reminder of key learning points.
We hope you love these resources as much as we enjoyed developing them!
Enjoy your outdoor adventures!
From the MSC team.
